Dan Stevens, Judi Dench

Excerpt from an article about Dame Judi's criticisms about some young actors wanting stardom rather than developing their craft in the theatre:
"...Dan Stevens, 27, starred with Dame Judi in Hay Fever at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2006. He said that she set high standards but was an 'incredibly generous actress to work with' who 'always has a twinkle in her eye.'
There was no sign of her treating younger actors differently, he added. 'There are certain actors, and she is definitely one of them, who get very excited by young people coming into the profession. There is a sense that she’s in touch with the heritage of theatre much more than we are today, and although I wasn’t in the wings every night I certainly learnt a lot from her...'"
